Friends, that word has many different meanings to people. We all look at a friend through our own eyes. So let me tell you what a friend means to me.

A friend is another human that will always be by your side. It doesn't matter if you screw up, make horrendous mistakes, use your words unwisely and with out forethought. They may not like you at those times but they will always be there for you. They know that you are human just as they are and they stay with you.

We all have made mistakes, used words that were hurtful and were unkind to others. Sometimes we were even unkind to our friends. Yet they understood and let it go. Knowing that you were in crises and not really yourself. Did they like it, no of course not but they stayed your friend knowing what was in your heart.

Those that abandon you in times of crises, when you are down and need them, are they really your friend or are they just looking at their own self. Do they say oh why did this happen to me? It really goes back to this, until you walk a mile in their shoes you really don't know what was behind their words. Was it pain, anger, rage, jealousy, or just hurt that drove those words. Does it matter? Not if you are their friend for you forgive them knowing that they are hurting.

So if you tell someone you are their friend please always be there for them. They count on you.
